BLAH!!! Firehydrant Records is a brand new recording studio and record label in Albuquerque, New Mexico focusing on musicians and a reimagining of the entire music industry as a whole. The founder, Sean Smock, grew up frequenting concerts during the heyday of the Albuquerque local music scene in times where Question the Answers, The Big Spank, Oh! Ranger, and any of 15 or 20 other local bands could sell out venues with ease. There were concerts strictly for local bands at larger venues such as the Sunshine Theater with hundreds of people in regular attendance. Now, however, bands are lucky to see a hundred people at any local show. Gone are the days of large venue local shows. The fans are still here. The bands are better than ever. So why is no one supporting our musicians? It all boils down to a lack of opporunity and local organization. That's where Firehydrant Records steps in.

Firehydrant Records was created to revitalize the music scene and, eventually, industry as a whole. Music is the one thing, save food and oxygen, that every human being on the planet takes part in on a regular basis. So why are musicians, especially those who make a life of it, some of the least paid and most hungry professionals in the world? After living the life first-hand on the road, living in a converted school bus touring with the 12+ year strong group The Big Spank, lead singer and guitarist Mike Garcia joined Firehydrant Records to share his recording engineering and unique real-world experience. In additional to Sean's time playing and seeing music, and recording in studios from local venues to Universal Studios in West Hollywood, Mike's expertise helps solidify Firehydrant Records as a resource any band from beginning to touring level can take advantage of.

It's not something we can change overnight, but the goal of Firehydrant Records is to provide resources to money-starved musicians by forming networks of venues, studios, and promoters to give opportunities to the amazing talent we have in our city that they otherwise may not have. By keeping our prices amazingly low for recording, bands can come record for a fraction of the price they might pay at larger studios without sacrificing sound quality. We continue after recording by helping bands with professional graphic design, CD duplication, show organization, networking with other bands and venues, and even organizing tours. With over 25 years of combined experience in both local and national markets, Firehydrant Records was founded to provide opportunities to bands that they otherwise would never have, and bring that music to the people of Albuquerque and ultimately beyond.
